Shannon Elder is a versatile and innovative creative producer, event curator, and marketing strategist based in Austin, Texas. With a deep commitment to fostering artistic communities and amplifying underrepresented voices, Shannon has cultivated a career at the intersection of arts, culture, and community engagement.
Shannon’s work spans across diverse projects, from curating dynamic live music and visual art showcases to leading digital marketing initiatives for arts and culture organizations. She is the co-founder and executive producer of PietschHouse, a creative event production company crafting unique experiences booking local music talent and showcasing visual artists.
Her extensive experience in event production includes curating the Local Imprints: Stories of Place and People exhibition for the Downtown Austin Alliance, producing Liz Moskowitz’s large-format photography showcase A Path of Impermanence for Future Front Texas, and working as a producer for national and local campaigns. She has also collaborated with a range of artists, organizations, and communities, from international photojournalists around the globe to local creatives.
Formerly she oversaw documentary photography projects as the Managing Photography Editor at Native Agency, an organization diversifying the media industry, where she worked to develop and exhibit projects that would eventually be featured in outlets such as NYT, NPR, and WIRED.
Shannon’s work is informed by her background in cultural studies and creative nonfiction writing. She holds a B.A. from Columbia College Chicago and has received several accolades for her leadership and artistic endeavors, including an artist residency at Château d'Orquevaux (2026) as well as a the Migration Narratives Grant from The Institute for Diversity and Civic Life and the Henry Luce Foundation (2021).
When she’s not producing events or curating exhibitions, Shannon serves as a Curator on the Advisory Board for Future Front Texas and as the Zine and Exhibition Coordinator for The Gallery ATX.
Through her diverse roles, Shannon continues to advocate for the transformative power of art and storytelling, bringing people together and creating spaces where creativity and community thrive.
